Summer of a collection
Exhibition 2022 in Giverny France, Museum of Impressionisms
From July 14th to October 2nd, 2022
From 14 July to 2 October 2022, the Musée des impressionnismes Giverny showcases its collections and new acquisitions in an exhibition entitled 'The Summer of the Collection'.
It enlightens how impressionnism has influenced art for 150 years. The show starts with precursors like Eugene Boudin, that Monet considered his master, and Monet himself (Water lilies with willow branches).
From symbolists to Nabis (Denis, Roussel, Vuillard, Bonnard), from post-impressionnists (Signac, Luce) to the painters of the American art colony of Giverny, like Butler, Monet's son in law, generations follow one another up to present day artists.
The japanese master Hiramatsu found his inspiration in Monet's gardens, while Isabelle Chatelin multiplied pastels on the norman coast to capture the fleeting effects of light.
