Les Jardins de Giverny
|
| This traditional restaurant nestling in a green setting is located at
500m from Claude Monet Foundation and
American Art museum in Giverny.
In this nearly hundred-year-old house, tradition is not an empty word. Plates are brought to the table under a silver bell that keps them warm. This is a true muscle-development exercice for the waiter who has to carry seven kilos at arm's length. The same concern for well done task and perfect service is also found in the plates. The young chef Melanie Peter is a master in cooking classics of country cuisine, using fresh products. At the same time, she likes surprising tastes from the South of France like her Foie Gras with Figs and Muscat Wine ( or with apple and calvados depending on the season), served on gingerbread, or her Brochette of Prawns fried with anisette. The new owners carefully respected the charm of the dining room. It still looks the same as it was when Mr Picard, one of the architect of Paris' underground, imaginated it in 1912, and when Georges Clemenceau and Claude Monet went there. Here it is good to savour time passing. If children get impatient, they will be allowed to dash in the park looking for the hedgehog. |
