En Francais : Le Domaine de La Goulée
|
At Domaine de la Goulee, you are invited to take a leap into the times of the impressionists. This ancient farm is nested in green surroundings in a little valley near Vetheuil and Giverny, 2 villages where Claude Monet has lived and painted. It is bathed by the light of the Seine Valley, so dear to the impressionist painters. This location gave the owner Jean-Pierre Mas the idea of furnishing and decorating his guest rooms in the spirit of Monet, Caillebotte or Degas. Bright colors and victorian atmosphere in the Monet suite, rich-looking upper class style at Caillebotte's, scenery of opera backstage for Degas: all the carefully chosen objects are related with the times of the impressionists, and underline their passions for painting, gardening, canoeing or shows. This meticulous evocation looks like a theatre set, no wonder as Jean-Pierre is professionally involved in the show business. For dinner at the Table d'hôtes or for breakfast, you will have the refined dishes with local products cooked according to the favorite recipes of the impressionist painters. The garden, that is gorgeous at the roses time, was designed by a former owner, a keen scottish gardener. This lady included many shaded spots where to linger and day dream. The terrace next to the whispering spring is also a great place therefore. |
