This is a great sight about a terrific period in art that has captured my soul forever more. I just wish you had more information about impressionism itself. Other than that, it's terrific. You might want to add a little about Vincent Van Gogh too. :)

I am doing a project on Claude Monet for school (grade 7)... Thank you for all the great information there was in the biography. I think he was a wonderful artist whose art was like it was out of a dream. Well, I hope I do well on my project!!! Thanks again and keep up all the good work!

Quel site merveilleux.

I loved this sight. My parents lived in Norway for 6 years and they had the
opportunity to visit. I have never been, but thanks to this website and
others, I now have the opportunity to visit any place in the world through
www. It's facinating. I have painted all my life and for the first time, I
am able to devote myself to my painting. My friends tell me that my paintings
remind them of Monet's style and I have managed to sell all those that have been of
various gardens I've visited. I don't always see what they see, because I like to
let my watercolors run in their own direction. I'm having the time of my life and
I am so thankful for web pages such as this to keep my imagination going and not to
get discouraged. Thanks again for such a beautiful trip through Monet's Garden...

My first visit to Giverny was in July 1987 when I was a solo traveller and walked both ways from the railway station at Vernon. It was a beautiful hot day and on my return I enjoyed a cooling draught at a cafe nearby the station. My second visit was in April 1993 - Easter Sunday - and again the weather was kind - this time I caught a bus with my companion and we walked back in the afternoon. The only misadventure was at the beginning of the day when our credit cards fell foul of the machine at St Lazare (?), however we were rescued just in time to catch the train by two somewhat bemused concourse attendants who were quite intrigued by the Australian graphics on both my credit card and my driving licence. I often say to my family that I would like to see Giverny in the autumn and the winter before I pass on. I have a number of books about Monet's work which give me much pleasure and inspiration for my own gardening adventures.

This website is why we made a daytrip to Giverny in May, during our first visit to Paris. The trip was perfect, and Giverny just exquisite. People should know that postcards with views of the rooms in his home can be purchased, tho you can't take pictures. Wish I'd bought a few more, only the yellow and blue dining room. Next time, we want to stay

Beautiful Gardens

At long last, I was able to visit the house and garden of Monet last July 5, 1998. It was just as I imagined it to be, and much much more. The flower beds in front of his house at the time of my visit were planted with vermillion and peach colored begonias. I really wanted to sit down and paint the whole scene but it was too crowded. It's a good thing that I took several dozen pictures and could base my future paintings from these. One day is really not enough to enjoy Giverny. I plan to come back next year and stay longer to be able to paint "plein air" just like the Master did.

Lovely site! Not only did it help me write my report, but it
was inspiring as well. In the beginning of July i visited
an exhibition of 22 works from The Musee Marmottan and one
from The Walters Gallery in Baltimore. He is truely a
master of capturing the light in the air between himself and
the subject. Thank you for the site.

I was in Giverny last month and visited Monet's Home and Gardens. While in his home I noticed to photos in two separate rooms of Monet at Mont. St. Michel. I was wondering if there are any reproductions of these photos available. I would love to find them if it is possible. Thank you for your help, and for the wonderful Monet pages.

What a wonderful site. Thank you for sharing all the beautiful pieces
by Monet. If anyone out there reads this, I am looking for a print
called Le Petite Cruse done in 1889 (plate II cat.8) If anyone knows where
I can find a print of this piece I would greatly appreciate a
response. This e-mail address is valid until August 7, 1998.

In August of 1997 I had the pleasure of visiting Giverny. I am am now in the process of gathering together all my notes to write my memoirs of my two weeks stay in France and having the information in your website helps me complete my notes so I can put this in a typewritten form and gives me a chance to revisit the beautiful home and gardens of Claude Monet. Great website.

Mesdames et messieurs

I know well the wonderful garden of Claude Monet and visited it in 1970, 1988 and 1990. Congratulations for your fine homepage. I am now realizing a large homepage about peonies (www.paeonia.ch) and I am interested at the list of the peonies in Monets garden. I am sure, that Monet also painted peonies. Please send me any informations about peony paintings of Claude Monet. Which peonies (precise cultivars)did Monet himself plant in his garden?
I am looking forward to your answer.

Our daughter visited in early May and was overwhelmed with the beauty of Monet's garden. She took hundreds of photos to bring home. We are now commited to visiting the gardens in each season over the next ten years, and to create a simple garden of great beauty in our harsh Australian environment. I just visited the gardens of Monet 5/31/98, and there was nothing that I have found as breath taking in my visit to France as the gardens. Seeing the places that inspired him to do his paintings, well you can see just why he just had to paint them. It only makes me want to learn more about painting myself so that I can reflect on the beauty that I incounter in my life in such a manor.
I could have spent the intire day there just taking in the beauty and the wild life that was enjoying the gardens too. Thank you for a wonderfull experence and along with the pictures that I have taken, and a place for me to come and visit when I long to return to France once again.

I hve longed to speak to someone from the home of my ancesters. We settled here in America around 1800's. Most of my family history has been handed down in the usual maner, by word of mouth, around the dinning table. I guess I'm looking for my geneology.. We came from the town of Vernon, from which three brothers sailed to america. Their names were Thomas, John, and I think, William. I love France very much and I am decorating my home to refelect the flavor of Vernon. Any news of my family name or pictures would be appreacited. thank you very much

I walked the beautiful miles from Vernon to Giverny-- through town, over the Seine, and along the abandoned railroad (Rue Claude Monet?) that passed behind so many picturesque homes and gardens. I recommend this route to any and all who may visit; I still dream of this landscape, and the ethereal gardens and inviting home, that Monet called home. I will return.
