Be ready to fall in love with this place ! How could
one resist the bucolic charm of this two-hundred-year old moulin
(mill), whose mossy wheel turns peacefully, carried by the stream of
the river Epte ? It looks like a dream of a mill,
just as everybody invented it for himself one day in a corner
of his imagination.
The story of its construction may deliver the secret for this magic. It is told that the mill of Fourges was erected by the builders of the Hameau de la Reine (the Queen's Hamlet) near the Palace of Versailles, this replica of a village where Marie-Antoinette fancied herself a farmer, far from the Court constraints. Today the place still diffuses serenity and harmony. It is well known by anglers, painters as well as gourmets coming from Paris or much further, like Hillary Clinton who dined here of a lobster salad and a loin of lamb. |
Don't fear anything stilted in the Moulin de Fourges. The warm welcome and the decoration invite to relax. The cuisine is elaborated with impeccable products, marrying tradition with innovation. On week days at lunchtime, menus all included at 27 euros, dinner at 35 euros, tearoom on weekends. According to the weather you will sit in one of the five dining rooms of the mill, or on the riverside, watching the dragonflies dance. The mill is also perfect for groups up to 200 people and for weddings or seminars. From Spring to Fall, the Moulin de Fourges is one of the most wonderful restaurants when visiting Monet's garden in Giverny, only 10 km away. |
