A very nice website...extremely informative. I did, however, notice that the North Carolina Museum of Art was left off of your list of musuems with Monets. "The Cliff, Etretat, Sunset" 1883 belongs to the museum's collection and is one of my favorite paintings there.

My father was shot down in the war and sheltered by a family of the name Tetar, St Denis-Le-Ferment. I am searching for them to express my gratitude for their heroism and kindness. I will not be able to visit until May 2006. I will be seeking a place to stay, perhaps a long-term(2 month or so) rental. Any advice you could provide would be most appreciated.

My wife, son and I have visited your town by train from Paris. Our destination was Giverny (Monet's Home). We were pleasantly suprised by the name of your beautiful city of Vernon and took pictures. A few years later my brother had put together a Geneolgy of our Vernon family and I guess Richard de Reviers was our distant relative. We definately want to come back to your town and see all the sties there. Thank You for this Web Site!!

I studied at Giverny for 6 months in 1973. It was an experience that I will never forget. You know they say that no matter how I paint my work still reflects Monet's. I'm blessed, and now I'm moving into my beautiful home by the water and I pray that I may paint the landscape in a way that will give tribute to my Mentor. In 1999 I was voted into International Who's Who for Outstanding Work as an Artist. I have been classified as one of the greatest women artist of the 21st century and I have been invited to show at MOMA and The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston,Massachusetts. I have paintings in London, Roma-Italy, Lisbon, Dakaar-Senegal(Africa) & New Delhi, India. I am striving to lead the world to peace in a discordant time as this, I pray, and as i was working yesterday I began to remeber what I really learned in France. It was not just Color, light and motion it was the spiritual qualities that make a painting a great painting. Merci, it was an unforgettable experience that I am so very thankful for.

Very wonderful, I've always liked Monet's work. I've long been interested in anything French. My mothers maiden name was DuMoulin, her parents were from Quebec, Canada. Her grandparents were from France, I don't know what town they lived in. I haven't finished researching that, I do that when time allows.

I like this site. To think that many of Monet's paintings were done in his backyard. Recently I was at the Venetian in Las Vegas(by the ver beautiful , and noticed that this garden that you have posted was a main feature in how the hotel was decorated..I'm not sure if the display is still up.It was impressive, but not as impressive as the real pictures. Also, I'd like to see pictures of Van Gogh's room in Arles.

a party of 4 including myself and my good friend , who has just retired from teaching art for 38 years, and our wives, visited Geverny on Tuesday 14th September as the final part of a ten day tour of France. We were delighted by the Monet Museum and Gardens and in Giverny itself. Unfortunately we cannot say the same about the accomodation that we booked after seeing it on your web-site. I am therefore informing you in case others may be unfortunate enoughto do the same. The accomodation in question is Le Bombarde at Notre-Dame De L'Isles. The exterior is impressive but on entering the property it becomess obvious that the condition of the accomodation is very poor and dirty in dire need of refurbishment. it appears that the owners two dogs have the run of the area reserved for visitors and the smell of dog is noticable in all rooms including the bedrooms. Someone should report the owner to the Syndicate De Initative as this type of accomodation will tarnish the name of Giverny and the area as a whole.

My mother and I visited Monet's gardens this past April. No words can truly express its beauty. While we were visiting my mother had purchased a perfume at Monets gift shop called, L'Fluer. Unfortunately, during our stay it was stolen. I was wondering if anyone would know how I can contact this gift shop to purchase this again for my mother.? Any ideas are welcome and very appreciated.

A relative of mine just purchased a heliograph of L'Eglise de Vernon at an auction for several thousand dollars. I was wondering if anyone has heard of a heliograph - I've done some research around here and nobody has heard of that. It's supposed to be some type of print done in the 1800s - and my relative's print is supposed to be printed in small number by Monet himself (or he had it printed). Any clues? I'd appreciate any help I can get.
Merci!

My wife and i have just had our second child, a girl and we have called her first name "Monet" in hour of the painter.
However I am wondering if the "et" as pronounced "A" requires some sort of " '" over the "e".

IE "Mone't"

In Australia this spelling has already been pronounced as "et" not "a"

Your response would be appreciated.

Regards

A Proud Father

Cordialement,

Un admirateur du grand peintre.

We visited Monet's house in Giverny last spring. It was wonderful. We enjoyed the house and mostly the garden and the flowers very much. On our way back to the bus we stopped by at the gift store. I saw the most beautiful gold ring with blue Monet's theme on it. It cost 400 Euros. I couldn't buy it then because the line was long, and our bus was supposed to depart any minute but I still can't forget that ring. Would you please help me locate that gift shop and maybe order the ring if they still have it? I'll apreciate your help so much! Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Yelena.

monet has always had his mind put to his paintings and he has inspired millions to paint too. when monet had painted mona lisa that painting was very popular to alot of people. Some even tried to buy his painting of the mona lisa.Monet has tooken so much of his creative to the limit. But has always had a touch to make his painting good.

What a beautiful mind to show the movement of trees, the palette of colours a single flower can have. Through his words we are able to feel in our own hearts what a wonderful place it is to be in the garden.

This is a great site and has helped me a lot with my school homework. I am 11 years of age and come to the library to use their computers as I do not have one at home. I am also learning the French language at school so the French with English translation in the text is great. Thank you so much.
