Building a work: Pictures of Monet's Studio at Giverny

From July 4 to September 13, 2020

A selection of photos taken for most of them at Giverny in Claude Monet's estate describe the painter's living and working place, that he organized to his taste for himself and for his large blended family.
Portraits of relatives and friends, for instance his best friend George Clemenceau, let us enter in the intimacy of the painter.

Rosa Bonheur
From April 17th, 2015 through September 20th, 2015

Rosa Bonheur (1822-1899) excelled as a painter, drawer, engraver and sculptor as well. She liked featuring animals, what makes her a major artist in animal art. This is the reason why the museum of Vernon, specializing in animal art, has decided to dedicate her an exhibition.

Rosa Bonheur was taught by her father, a painter himself, at a time when the Ecole des Beaux-Arts (fine arts school) was still closed to women. She managed to become famous, to be recognized as a great artist and to make her living from her art that was very successful.  She was even the first female artist to be decorated with the Legion of Honour. Rosa Bonheur is now associated with the beginning of feminism for the very free life she led.

Rosa Bonheur is well represented in French and foreign museums. One of her major works, the Horse fair, is at the Museum of Metropolitan Art in New York.
