The Last Mill With a Pending Wheel

The Moulin d’Andé was built in 1195 to supply with flour the garrison of Chateau-Gaillard at Les Andelys.

The last mill with a wheel pending over the water of the river Seine, it is listed and has kept intact its entire inner machinery and its external wheel.

The four other mills that still stand on the Seine branches are le moulin de Muids, le vieux moulin de Vernon, le moulin de Connelles and the moulin de Gardon at Les Andelys.

The Moulin d'Andé Cultural Organisation

The moulin d'Andé became fifty years ago the centre of a cultural Organisation created by Suzanne Lipinska and a few friends to welcome and accomodate any people looking for a serene place where to write a book or a screenplay, paint, shoot a movie, and in parallel to organise cultural, musical, theatrical and film events in the hearth of Normandy.

A Venue Where to Stay and Meet New People

Over the years, Moulin d’Andé has blossomed into a bigger and restaured place, while keeping the spirit that has inspired him for five decades: being a home where visitors are welcome, not a hotel where they are served.
Located in a 37 acre listed park, the Moulin offers 35 rooms, 6 work rooms or rehearsal rooms, a 100-seat theater, and hosts seminars, study days, family events. Tourists wanting not only to visit the premises but also to stay in this historical place are welcome. According to programmation, they will have the opportunity to attend concerts or theater performances,and meet artist residents from all over the world.

In 2012 single rooms are at 45 euros, double rooms at 70 euros and and buffet dinner at 20 euros.
Booking is mandatory.
