It took many years before I really learned to love art and Monet's works just jumped out at me. Because of my love for his work I began to study the Impressionists and visit the Metropolitan Museam of Art frequently. If I was out with anyone I would tell them that I just HAD to go see my friend Monet. They never realized until we got in front of one of Monet's paintings that it was not a real person i spoke of. I love Van Gogh too.

Dear Friends,

Last August I’ve been to Giverny for one entire week. Before going to Giverny, I couldn’t imagine that is was possible to exist such a beautiful and peaceful place on Earth with so kind and charming people. I was so excited to see Monet’s House and Garden that my wiliness to paint grew even more and I had to paint, even though I hadn’t my paintbrushes with me because my bags were lost in the airport.

My name is Sónia Franco, I´m 32 years old and I’m Portuguese living in Lisbon. I’m not a professional painter but I really love to paint and read books about painters with more emphases on French painters with Claude Monet being my passion.I hope to return to Giverny next year, if I have the opportunity.

Until then many kisses and hugs for all people in Giverny and keep going with this wonderfull site.

I have been researching the internet . I am an art teacher.
Tomorrow I will be teaching my art class of 9 year old special education students about monet's waterlilies. This was a wonder full explination of his use of color and cataracts. I am planning to use pieces of sponge with tempera paint to give the fuzzy impression. I plan to use your site more often now that I have found it.

I shall be in the Calvados region in Normandy 20th-26th Aug 2005 and hope to visit Vernon in that period. I served with the 1st. Worcestershire Regt. taking part in the liberation of Vernon and the asault across the Seine. I was wounded in the advance on the Gisors Rd. on Aug 27th. I would like to know however if there is a memorial at vernon, and /or if there is a Commonwealth Military Cemetary near the City, where I may pay tribute to my fallen comrades who were not so fortunate. Dear Sir

I have visited your pages because I search for expert help.

For many years I have a clay plate which has

' Clay Pits Giverny ' written on the back

It is a plate which looks like someone made it for their own use and is crewam base with striking dark green paint brush strokes in a zig zag pattern which looks as though someone just used up the paint on their brush , the glaze is clear .

Since doing my art degree in Brighton and reading about the artists in Giverny France possibly making their own domestic pottery - I have wondered all this time could my plate be authentic.

Can you help , do you know if there is an expert way of dating the plate or showing it to an expert ,

the writing looks like an artist's writing with a little scroll on the Initial letter 'C' and it is now puzzling me so much I have to try to find out.

What a wonderfull site I adore Monet. I was lucky to see the exhibition of his original work at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.I remeber a few years back hearing on the news that his garden was destroyed in a very severe storm.

This October will mark the 10th anniversary since our visit to this charming section of France during our honeymoon. We arrived at Monet's house and garden at dusk, without time to see anything, so decided to stay the night at the local inn. The food was excellent, the room comfortable with a great view looking up the street and the proprietor was quite amused by our attempt to request a room in French. We walked the street at night admiring the sounds and aromas of the gardens and sloping hills. Do you have any information on an artist named Jeanne Drappier Barbaud? We still enjoy the oil painting we purchased during our visit.
